SAN FRANCISCO–The fans at Oracle Park were loud and engaged during a four-run Giants rally in the fifth inning of the team’s 6-4 win over the Rays.
The fans who stayed home also made quite a statement on Saturday.
The Giants announced a paid attendance of 31,828 for their second home game of the year, marking the lowest single-game attendance total at Oracle Park since September 1, 2010.
After the club lost a combined 187 games between 2017-2018, the Giants expected a decline in ticket sales coming into the 2019 season. What remains unclear is whether the franchise anticipated attendance to plummet this low this early in the year.
