LOS ANGELES — The San Francisco Giants announced the signings of 23 draft picks on Wednesday, but first round selection Hunter Bishop remains unsigned.
Bishop told the coaching staff at Arizona State he planned to turn pro and was enthusiastic on draft night about the prospect of playing for the franchise he grew up watching. A Palo Alto, Calif. native and graduate of Serra High (San Mateo), Bishop hit 22 home runs and posted a team-best 1.239 on-base plus slugging percentage in his junior season.
It’s unclear why Bishop has yet to sign, but it is not expected to be difficult for the Giants and the outfielder to agree to a signing bonus.
