SAN FRANCISCO – The Giants climbed a beanstalk to address a significant lack of bench power.
They have agreed to terms on a minor league contract with Kyle Blanks, a 6-foot-6, 265-pound left fielder who even makes Michael Morse look small by comparison. The deal with Blanks, which was first reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, is pending a physical.
Blanks, 29, debuted with the San Diego Padres in 2009 but has lost time to numerous injuries over his career. He was limited to just 26 games between San Diego and Oakland in 2014, then appeared in just 18 games for the Texas Rangers this past season.
