SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants have had plenty of success this season signing veterans as Triple-A depth and then eventually plugging them into their big league outfield. Now, they're trying to do that with the infield.
The club signed infielder Cristhian Adames, Triple-A Sacramento announced Friday. Adames, who has spent parts of four seasons in the majors with the Colorado Rockies, was added to the River Cats' roster.
The 27-year-old was released by the Chicago Cubs last Friday after playing just 12 games for their Triple-A club. He last played in the big leagues in 2017 and has 306 at-bats across four MLB seasons, batting .
