Vin Mazzaro’s stint with the Giants lasted less than a week. Albert Suarez’s stint in the minor leagues lasted nearly a decade.
Suarez took Mazzaro’s roster spot Friday. The Giants designated Mazzaro, the former A’s right-hander, for assignment after he gave up nine runs (seven earned) in one-third of an inning Thursday night in his second appearance with San Francisco.
The Giants had added Mazzaro to the roster last Saturday.
On Friday, they selected the contract of Suarez, a 26-year-old right-hander, from Triple-A Sacramento. Suarez was 1-2 with a 2.
