SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- The Giants activated righthander Jean Machi from the disabled list and recalled him from Triple-A Sacramento before Tuesday night's game against the San Diego Padres.
Machi missed 17 games with a left groin strain.
Righthander Mike Broadway was optioned to the RiverCats to make room for Machi. Broadway appeared in four games, allowing one run on three hits over 4 2/3 innings.
Machi is 1-0 with a 5.47 ERA in 24 games with the Giants this year.
