Roster expansion on Sept. 1 is ordinarily a time for teams to get a big-league look at some of their best prospects. For the Giants, still in a pennant race, that might be difficult to do, so I do not expect a bounty of young players to arrive in the visiting clubhouse at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday.
The main issue is the Giants’ 40-man roster, which is full, coupled with the fact that many of the Giants’ best prospects are not yet on the roster, incuding starters Clayton Blackburn, Chris Stratton and Tyler Beede, and outfielder Mac Williamson.
