Giant reliever Will Smith throws for first time since Tommy John surgery

Two happy occasions at AT&T Park on Sunday:

It's Ryan Vogelsong retirement day. The "happy" part is that the beloved pitcher has been placed on the 40-man and active rosters and has a locker in the home clubhouse at AT&T Park. While a retirement is bittersweet, this should be a fun occasion.

Also, reliever Will Smith threw a baseball Sunday morning for the first time since he underwent Tommy John surgery at the end of spring training.

He threw 10 times from about 30 feet and 15 more from about 40-45 feet, and the balls were zinging out of his hand.
