The San Francisco Giants are well known to be “also rans” in the race to sign most big-name free agents. It’s a tale as old as time. There are as many theories as to why this is the case as there are free agents that the Giants have lost out on.
Some say it’s the high cost of living in San Francisco, but that’s the same as in Los Angeles and New York and…well, just about every major metropolitan city in America. Some believe that the ballpark is off-putting to hitters, but that’s never stopped the big names of the league from hitting well here when they’re visiting.
