Hurricane Florence is due to make landfall along the southern part of the East Coast this morning, primarily along the North and South Carolina coastlines, and it is supposed to be a big one, and not just in terms of the usual destructive forces of a hurricane, such as high speed winds.
Like Hurricane Harvey last year, this storm is expected to move very slowly, dumping torrential amounts of rain which will cause flooding inland in addition to the storm surge expected at the coast which could be up to nine feet high in some places.
