Beloved former San Francisco Giants outfielder Angel Pagan had to be rescued off the waters near Puerto Nuevo beach in Puerto Rico, according to local media accounts.
Telemundo reports Pagan, former minor leaguer Orlando Roman, and a teenager were boating in the area about 30 miles from San Juan when bad weather hit Tuesday. According to police, a 15-foot wave incapacitated the craft, and Pagan and Roman had to signal for help. The Maritime Unit of Puerto Rico's Joint Forces of Rapid Action arrived at the scene to help the stranded crew.
According to Telemundo, Roman had to receive medical attention for a head injury.
