Former major league pitcher Tommy Hanson, who last pitched this season with the Giants Triple-A affiliate Sacramento River Cats, has died at age 29.
Zach Klein of Channel 2 Action news in Atlanta, Ga., first reported the news.
Klein writes Hanson was in a coma Monday after suffering catastrophic organ failure in the morning.
The Atlanta Braves confirmed the reports on their official Twitter account.
Hanson was best known for his time with the Braves where he spent four seasons in the bigs. In 2009, he finished third in National League Rookie of the Year voting after going 11-4 with a 2.
