Dignitaries from far and wide came to Oracle Park on Monday for the public celebration of life for San Francisco Giants legend Willie Mays, including former President Bill Clinton. The 42nd president spoke during the middle of Monday’s ceremony, recounting stories of his own baseball fandom and how much he enjoyed listening to and watching baseball games featuring Mays when he was growing up in Arkansas.
“I can still remember just sitting there, just soaking up the Dodgers, soaking up the Yankees and living for the Giants,” Clinton said. “Because I could watch Willie Mays.
