Bruce Bochy, recently retired as manager of the Giants, has signed on to manage France’s national team as it attempts to qualify for the World Baseball Classic in 2021, according to published reports.
Bochy was born in France when his father was based there with the military.
“I want to stay involved and give back to baseball what it gave to me,” Bochy said, according to the report.
France failed to qualify for the World Baseball Classic in both 2013 and 2017.
Bochy, 64, retired at the end of the 2019 campaign after 25 seasons as a manager.
