PITTSBURGH–The Giants have never been afraid to trade top prospects for proven Major League veterans, but a January swap for Andrew McCutchen required San Francisco to part with another first round draft choice.
Right-hander Kyle Crick was the Giants’ first round selection in 2011 and arrived on the big league scene last June.
After a breakout season as a relief pitcher, Crick figured to be a key member of the Giants’ 2018 bullpen before he was included in the deal to acquire McCutchen from the Pirates.
The Giants sent Crick and outfield prospect Bryan Reynolds to Pittsburgh in January, and shortly after the deal went down, Crick posted a tweet thanking the fans of an organization he spent seven seasons with.
