SAN FRANCISCO – When it comes to non-roster invitees and the Giants, you never know.
Gregor Blanco came to camp that way. So did Juan Uribe, Andres Torres, Santiago Casilla and Ryan Vogelsong. Those guys all own World Series rings, and did some pretty instrumental things to earn them.
So perhaps there will be a comeback kid, redemption song or an unforeseen contributor or two to emerge this spring among the 21 non-roster players that the Giants invited to major league camp – a group that includes former Blue Jays All-Star left-hander Ricky Romero, well-traveled major league catcher George Kottaras, former A’s pitcher Vin Mazzaro and big-bodied power-hitter Kyle Blanks.
