Fans of the San Francisco Giants have taken to social media to voice their outrage over recent political donations made by one of the team’s owners, Charles B. Johnson.
Civil rights activist Dr. Harry Edwards and Oakland-based attorney John Burriss announced a “total boycott” of the Giants Sunday after election filings revealed that Johnson had donated the maximum $2,700 to the campaign of Cindy Hyde-Smith, a Republican U.S. Senator from Mississippi who has expressed racist sentiments.
Hyde-Smith has made several controversial remarks during her campaign including one in which she stated she would “be on the front row” if invited to a public hanging.
