If you’re a sports fan, you already know the deal with Fanatics. They’re the online retailer that, over the course of just the past few years, has locked down exclusive licensing deals with nearly every major professional and college sports entity to be had. Their merchandise is defective at worst and disappointing at best. Their inventory is often comically limited. Worst of all, they’re unavoidable. Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin has made it so that if you want to buy your favorite team’s merch, you have no recourse but to either buy it from his awful company or to hunt around for used gear on eBay.
