SAN DIEGO – Dick Enberg, the recent Hall of Fame inductee and one of the most gracious and recognizable sports broadcasters of our time, announced his plans to retire from the Padres booth after next season.
Best of luck, Mr. Enberg, and congratulations on a wonderful career. Also, one more thing:
Are you sure YOU EVER WANT TO WATCH ANOTHER BASEBALL GAME AFTER WEDNESDAY NIGHT?
I mean, how in the hell does Major League Baseball, in this season when “pace of play” is such a point of emphasis in the commissioner’s office that there’s a clock between innings and a whole new set of rules about when batters can step out of the box and warning letters sent to dawdling players, allow a game to get on a creeping conveyor belt in which nine pitching changes are made over the final three innings?
