ATLANTA – The Giants didn’t have all the information on Hunter Pence’s strained right hamstring. But the information they had wasn’t encouraging.
“Unfortunately, he did a pretty good job on it,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Thursday. “And it’s a shame.”

The Giants recalled outfielder Mac Williamson from Triple-A Sacramento and placed Pence on the 15-day disabled list, but they are bracing to be without their starting right fielder and top RBI man for much longer than that.
Pence had an MRI exam Thursday, one day after he grabbed the back of his right knee while a few steps out of the batter’s box.
