SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — It’s up for debate what was more memorable about Heliot Ramos’ first home run in a major-league spring training game: the shot itself, his reaction to it, or the reception he received in the Giants dugout after he finished rounding the bases.
The 20-year-old former first-round draft pick launched a middle-in fastball well onto the berm in left-center field. Upon takeoff, Ramos watched for a moment, slowly began his trot and gave his bat a subtle flip down the first-base line. When he crossed home plate, fellow top prospect Joey Bart was waiting for him with a bear hug.
