Former San Francisco Giants manager Dusty Baker did not endorse his former Dodgers teammate in the race for California’s vacant Senate seat, opting instead to back Rep. Barbara Lee.
Baker joined Shooty Babitt, Rickey Henderson, Dave Stewart and Tye Waller in endorsing the Oakland congresswoman, according to an announcement from the Lee campaign Wednesday.
All five of the former major leaguers either played for or coached the Oakland A’s. Lee has been a staunch advocate of keeping the ball club in Oakland, and introduced the Moneyball Act, a piece of legislation that would strip Major League Baseball of its antitrust exemption if a team abandons the city they’re in without proper compensation.
