The Giants recently agreed to terms on a minor-league contract with Joe Nathan.
On Tuesday's edition of "SportsTalk Live," general manager Bobby Evans explained how the deal went down.
"We got a chance to visit with him at the Winter Meetings in December and we told him as he goes through his rehab process to keep us in mind if something opened up and he had interest in our situation," Evans told Guy Haberman. "We talked to his agent this spring and he had an opportunity with a major-league contract so we had to pass, and he ultimately signed with the Cubs.
