MIAMI–Giants third baseman Evan Longoria is considered one of the most durable players in baseball, as he’s played in at least 156 games in each of the last five seasons.
But after playing in 67 of the Giants’ first 69 games this year, Longoria is hoping an injury he suffered during Thursday’s series-finale against the Marlins won’t keep him out for long.
The veteran infielder exited Thursday’s contest in the bottom of the fourth inning after taking a hit by pitch off of his hand in the top of the frame. A Giants trainer looked at Longoria’s hand at first base after he took an 89-mile per hour fastball off of his pinky finger from starter Dan Straily.
