Ryan Vogelsong knows something about inspirational comebacks. They’re sort of his thing.
It should surprise no one, then, that he’ll be attempting yet another this spring. The former Giants postseason hero, whose face was crushed by a pitch last season, signed a minor league contract with the Minnesota Twins, and will strive to make their rotation when he reports to major league camp in February.
Vogelsong, 39, would be the Twins’ oldest player since Jim Thome in 2011.
Vogelsong will forever be a part of Giants lore for his storybook late-career resurgence as an All-Star in 2011 and stalwart presence in elimination games in the run to the 2012 World Series title.
