The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants are set to put their rivalry aside Monday when the two ballclubs come together to honor Hall of Famer Willie Mays at Dodger Stadium.
As MLB announced in a news release published Friday, the Dodgers will honor Mays, who died last month at 93, just before the start of a four-game series against their NL West rivals.
It’s not lost on Michael Mays, son of the “Say Hey Kid,” who this honor is coming from.
“As beautiful as the outpouring of love for my father has been, frankly, I’m not surprised,” Michael Mays, who the Dodgers say will be at Monday’s game, said in the release.
