SAN FRANCISCO — Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi is not afraid to admit mistakes.
That became clear when Opening Day right fielder Michael Reed was designated for assignment after eight at-bats. It was obvious when Opening Day left fielder Connor Joe was cut less than a week later after 15 at-bats.
Zaidi has made impressive strides and several successful transactions in his first year on the job, but on Tuesday, he owned up to another failed evaluation.
After watching trade deadline Scooter Gennett acquisition play 21 games and make 67 plate appearances with the Giants, the organization released him.
