Giants right-hander Jeff Samardzija underwent an MRI exam on his troublesome right shoulder on Thursday, and although the results have not been revealed, the veteran remains hopeful he'll be ready by Opening Day on March 29.
Samardzija has posted a 10.64 ERA across four Cactus League starts, walking seven and allowing 15 runs (13 earned) on 17 hits in 11 innings this spring.
Among the high-profile Major Leaguers still unsigned is reliever Greg Holland, who's coming off a successful 2017 campaign as the Rockies' closer.
