SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner was struck in his pitching hand by a line drive hit by Kansas City's Whit Merrifield and immediately left Friday's Cactus League exhibition finale during the third inning.
Head athletic trainer Dave Groeschner briefly examined Bumgarner before they left the field together. Bumgarner, the Giants' ace and scheduled Opening Day starter, undoubtedly was headed for an X-ray machine.
