Could Tim Lincecum’s season be over? Have Giants fans seen the last of him? That could be determined over the next few days.
Lincecum will be conferring with a hip specialist in Vail, Colo., while the Giants play a four-game series in Denver. His degenerative condition has reached the point where surgery is an option — perhaps allowing him to continue his career next year but definitely ruling him out for the rest of this season.
It’s a bittersweet issue for Giants fans to contemplate. They’d love to see him on the AT&T mound at least one more time, but if surgery ends that discussion, it would clear the way for management to give him a proper, ceremonial send-off.
