It implies his Diamondbacks are out of contention and have one chore remaining in the National League West, to try ruining the seasons of those actually in contention.
Stewart, the Diamondbacks’ general manager, isn’t buying it.
“We haven’t given into the belief we’re going to be spoilers,” he said in a phone interview. “We play the Giants well (7-6 record). We haven’t played the Dodgers as well (3-9) but are capable of playing good baseball and taking our chances.
