Nobody in the Giants’ clubhouse was funnier the past two seasons than pitcher Tim Hudson, whose mind was a Rodney Dangerfield-sized catalog of one-liners.
Hudson became good friends with Madison Bumgarner, and when the two walked through San Francisco together, fans would stop Bumgarner and ask for autographs and photos and barely notice Hudson, a 17-year big-leaguer.
“I’d tell them I’m his chauffeur today,” Hudson said.
The chauffeur is retired. The Freak, Tim Lincecum, is gone, the two of them replaced by the fast-talking wide receiver (Jeff Samardzija) and the shirtless horseman (Johnny Cueto, see his Instagram).
