MILWAUKEE – There aren’t any mountains in Wisconsin for Johnny Cueto to climb. So he had to settle for running stadium stairs Wednesday morning in an otherwise vacant Miller Park.
A day after Cueto won his Giants debut, his new club continued to receive fringe benefits. Manager Bruce Bochy had planned to rest catcher Buster Posey in Wednesday’s series finale. Instead, because Cueto dispatched the Milwaukee Brewers in a crisply played two-hour, 29-minute affair Tuesday night, Bochy felt comfortable bringing back his catcher to pair with Jeff Samardzija for what will be another high-profile debut.
“Johnny had a quick tempo,” Bochy said.
