Cueto dazzles as Giants fall, avoid being no-hit

PHOENIX -- The Giants escaped the ignominy of having a no-hitter thrown against them on Tuesday night by Arizona's Patrick Corbin, but they couldn't avoid the specter of defeat, as they fell to the Diamondbacks, 1-0. It was San Francisco's fourth consecutive defeat.

Brandon Belt's two-out grounder to the left side against Arizona's overshifted infield with two outs in the eighth inning ended Corbin's bid for immortality.

But the Giants couldn't score, leaving opportunity in the D-backs' hands. They capitalized on the chance to break the scoreless tie, as David Peralta grounded a single to center field off Giants left-hander Tony Watson with two outs in the D-backs' eighth to score Jarrod Dyson and break the scoreless tie.
