Collision between Peña and Williamson’s leads to 3 runs for A’s

The bottom four spots in the Giants’ lineup Wednesday night didn’t get a lot of oohs and aahs from the bipartisan crowd at the Coliseum. Just an ouch.

The only people Trevor Brown, Mac Williamson, Ramiro Peña and Ruben Tejada scared were each other, as Williamson bulldozed Peña in a third-inning collision that led to the Athletics’ first three runs.

Marcus Semien wound up standing on third base after Williamson, the right fielder, and Peña, the second baseman, didn’t communicate on a pop-up to short right field. It was the start of a very eventful 30 minutes for Williamson, making his fourth visit in the big leagues this season.
