35-year old Alex Cobb is enjoying the finest seasons of his career in a San Francisco Giants uniform. He threw another great game last night (7-1/3 scoreless frames) and leads the team in bWAR (2.4). He's allowed only ten runs in his eight starts (47-2/3 IP). Backing him up was rookie sensation Casey Schmitt who went 4-for-4 with 3 RBI and is now 8-for-12 with two homers and two doubles matching Willie McCovey's great start in 1959. How's that for a debut? Schmitt, a natural third baseman, has played shortstop with BCraw sidelined and looks like he can handle any spot on the infield.
