ST. LOUIS — The Giants’ starting pitchers are playing musical chairs, and Matt Cain may have just found himself a seat. Or kept the one he had.
Cain, fighting to maintain his spot in the starting rotation, steadied from a shaky start Wednesday night and had his best outing in over a month, making a strong bid to stay in the starter mix.
Alas, the Cardinals came from behind to win it 4-3 on Yadier Molina’s solo homer in the eighth off Hunter Strickland.
Go figure. Molina had two homes on the season until the Giants came to town.
