After two solid starts, Matt Cain's good fortune came to an end Sunday as the Cardinals tagged him for seven runs and beat the Giants 8-3 in the series finale.
The Cardinals tagged Cain for four runs in the second inning. Randal Grichuk dealt the big blow with a three-run double.
Rookie Christian Arroyo got the Giants on the board in the third with an RBI-double to cut the deficit to 4-1.
With St. Louis leading 7-1, Brandon Crawford and Eduardo Nunez clubbed back-to-back homers in the top of the eighth inning.
