SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.–Like more than 100 other major league free agents, Cameron Maybin sat at home through the cold winter months wondering if the right opportunity would materialize.
For the second straight offseason, the well-traveled outfielder waited until mid-February to sign a contract.
“Going through an offseason wondering if you’re going to get a job, wondering why it’s been so tough for guys to get jobs, it’s not been fun,” Maybin said bluntly.
After signing a one-year, $3.25 million deal last February with the Marlins, Maybin agreed to terms on a minor league deal with the Giants Saturday.
