PHOENIX–For the second time in three innings, Buster Posey lined a single into right field off of D’backs pitcher Patrick Corbin.
But after reaching first base, Posey called timeout and left the game alongside trainer Dave Groeschner who came out to check on the Giants catcher.
Posey took a hard foul tip off his mask in the bottom of the second inning before staying in the game and taking an at-bat in the top of the third. It’s unclear whether Posey is in concussion protocol as the Giants did not announce a reason for Posey’s departure.
Posey was replaced by reserve catcher Nick Hundley.
