SAN FRANCISCO -- Paul Goldschmidt and John Ryan Murphy each homered and doubled and Ketel Marte had three hits as timely hitting by the D-backs powered a 7-3 victory over the Giants in the finale of a three-game series at AT&T Park on Wednesday. Arizona won its fourth straight series to open the season.
Giants left-hander Andrew Suarez, in his MLB debut, had been cruising until Goldschmidt's fourth-inning homer, his second in as many days. The 25-year-old retired the first 10 batters he faced, including five strikeouts, and he allowed only four hits in 5 1/3 innings.
