SAN FRANCISCO–Just 48 hours after civil rights attorney John Burris and Rev. Amos Brown, the president of the San Francisco chapter of the NAACP, held a press conference calling for a boycott of the San Francisco Giants, Burris announced the boycott is “not further warranted.”
Burris and Brown addressed reporters in San Francisco Monday after election filings revealed Charles Johnson, one of the Giants’ principal owners, contributed to the campaign of Cindy Hyde-Smith, a Republican Senator from Mississippi.
Hyde-Smith drew criticism for making racist remarks and said she “would be on the front row” if invited to a public hanging at a campaign rally earlier this month.
