LOS ANGELES -- Madison Bumgarner has a way of making his presence felt even when he doesn't emerge victorious. Unfortunately for the Giants, the left-hander had an opportunity to display this quality Saturday in a 3-1 setback administered by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Bumgarner (0-2) didn't hide his intensity during his six-inning performance. As he did in his previous outing last Monday at Miami, he fought for each strike and every out, openly challenging plate umpire Dan Bellino on a couple of occasions.
Few pitchers even think about confronting umpires in this fashion.
