SAN FRANCISCO -- With no pieces left on their bench, the Giants turned to Madison Bumgarner to pinch-hit with the potential game-winning run on third base and no outs in the 12th inning. Bumgarner then delivered a single to left that scored Gorkys Hernandez and lifted the Giants to a 5-4 win over the Padres at AT&T Park on Tuesday night.
Hernandez led off the 12th with a triple off Padres reliever Rowan Wick, who then gave up Bumgarner's winning hit that ended San Francisco's five-game losing streak.
Meanwhile, Giants veteran Hunter Pence certainly looked as if he had much more baseball left in his 35-year-old body.
