Madison Bumgarner lost a chance to appear in the All-Star Game so he could pitch Sunday night. It turned into a pretty good trade, even if the outcome disappointed the big man from North Carolina.
Bumgarner took a no-hitter into the eighth inning, which he lost on a clean one-out single by Jake Lamb, who has tormented the Giants throughout his career.
The night was far from a total loss. Bumgarner earned his 10th win in a 4-0 Giants victory. He pitched his first shutout of 2016 and matched a career high with 14 strikeouts.
