Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner underwent surgery to insert three pins into his left pinkie finger on Saturday. He's expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks.
Bumgarner was hit in the left hand by a line drive off the bat of Royals second baseman Whit Merrifield during a Cactus League game on Friday, resulting in a fracture of the fifth metacarpal. According to an Associated Press report, manager Bruce Bochy said it would be "a couple months, give or take," before Bumgarner would be back on the mound for San Francisco.
