Live by the bullpen, die by the bullpen.
The Giants’ season ended Tuesday night because a 5-2 lead in the ninth inning was wasted.
A splendid pitching performance by Matt Moore. Another offensive outburst from Conor Gillaspie. All kinds of timely hitting. And good vibes at China Basin. All wasted along with the three-run lead the bullpen inherited from Moore.
That’s an easy way of wrapping up the final game of the Division Series, a 6-5 loss to the determined and highly talented Cubs. But it also wraps up the Giants’ season.
