The Giants and Jeff Samardzija looked to be in line for a complete win over the D'backs Saturday night in Arizona. With one swing of the bat, everything changed.
Arizona catcher Wellington Castillo launched a three-run shot into the left-center field bleachers off Hunter Strickland, erasing the Giants' 5-3 lead.
Samardzija put the past away after having a 6.83 ERA in five June starts and tossed 7 1/3 innings, allowing three earned runs and struck out five before the bullpen let his win go to waste in the Giants' 6-5 loss to the D'backs.
The Giants gave Samardzija early help by putting three runs on the board in the top of the second inning.
