Bryce Harper had himself an eventful Tuesday night.
Returning to Washington D.C. and the fans he jilted by signing a gargantuan free agent contract with the Phillies, Harper was booed with the white-hot intensity of 1,000 suns. His tribute video was booed. Ditto the swinging strikeouts his first two times at-bat. Not so much his fifth-inning double and his sixth-inning single.
Many of the boo birds had flown the coop by the eighth inning when Harper mashed a monster home run accentuated by a saucy bat flip.
It’s always an emotional and unsatisfying experience when a sports hero returns to an old haunt wearing different colors.
