SAN FRANCISCO — It’s been 32 years since Bruce Bochy last found himself behind the plate.
His son Brett asked him to catch one final pitch.
During an emotional pregame ceremony, Brett Bochy surprised his father and threw out the ceremonial first pitch before Bruce’s last game as the manager of the San Francisco Giants.
Bruce spent parts of nine seasons in the major leagues as a reserve catcher with the Houston Astros, New York Mets and San Diego Padres before embarking on his managerial career in the minor leagues shortly after retiring in 1987.
